Seasons
The seasons play a major role in first deciding on a wedding date. Depending on where the couple lives, some months throughout the year are too rainy, too dry, too cold, too hot, or it may be prime time for tornados or hurricanes.

Peak Season
Certain months of the year are also known as the peak season. The peak season is when it seems as though every hotel, wedding vendor, wedding photographer, reception location, church, temple, or house of worship is booked solid. Consider a wedding date that is during the off-season when hotels, vendors, wedding professionals, and churches are less busy. Rates are often reduced during the off-season saving the couple some money, as well as stress.

Holidays
Holidays are a popular time of year for couples to exchange their vows. It is very important when choosing a holiday for a wedding date that reservations are made, vendors are hired, appointments scheduled, and items are ordered months in advance.

Special Moments
Some couples choose a wedding date that has a special meaning to them. Maybe it is the anniversary of when they first met, when they became engaged, or the first vacation they took as a couple. Other couples choose a date around a custom, such as the Irish belief that getting married on New Years' Eve is lucky, or the Chinese who believe it is favorable to select a date with as many even numbers as possible.

Day-to-day Life
A couple's own life can play an important role in choosing a wedding date. Certain months of the year might be busier with careers or children than other months of the year. Maybe the bride or groom is involved with sports, the theater, politics, community events, or other activities that keep them busier some months more than others. Some other considerations are school or college breaks, and vacations being limited to certain times of the year.
